# Memory Protect & Setup Routine

To restore your Lately Bass and other FM patches, you need to disable memory protection in the Utility menu.

  1. Press the PLAY/PERFORM button to ensure you are in normal play mode.
  2. Press the UTILITY button multiple times until you see Mem Protect on the LCD screen.
  3. The screen will likely show Mem Protect: ON.
  4. Press the -1/NO/OFF button to change the setting to OFF.
  5. Press the UTILITY button until you reach the MIDI settings page, and ensure Exclusive is set to ON.

Your TX81Z is now ready to receive SysEx data.
